What is a variable refrigerant Volume or VRF?
Variable refrigerant volume (VRV) is an HVAC technology invented by Daikin Industries in 1982. Like ductless mini splits, VRF’s use refrigerants as cooling and heating mediums. This refrigerant is conditioned by one or more condensing units (indoors or outdoors can have either water or air cooling) and is then circulated into several buildings inside the building. Like conventional chiller-based systems, VRF systems allow varying degrees of cooling temperature in specific spaces. However, because there are no large air handling systems the only smaller indoor models use.
The newest in VR technology, the VRV system enables the air conditioning system to be controlled using a temperature sensor to regulate the refrigerant flow as the building environment changes, to meet the changing needs of the occupants.
VRV air conditioning systems enable the air conditioning systems to be controlled using a temperature sensor to regulate the refrigerant flow as the building environment changes.
VRV creates energy savings and reduces greenhouse gas emissions by adjusting to fluctuating weather conditions without the need to change energy-intensive thermostats. The flexibility of the system means that the building can remain as comfortable as possible as the outside temperature changes, which can make the difference between comfort and discomfort. What is VRV used for?
VRV or variable refrigerant Volume HVAC systems have been widely used in India for decades including in South Asia and the Middle East. The VRV technology use rooftop compressors and multiple air fan coil units. The compressor unit warms and cools circulating refrigerating air which is sent by piping into the fan coils. The fan coils can be controlled independently and simultaneously which means they can provide simultaneous heating and cooling for the same space. For applications where various parts of the building need to keep consistent different temperatures or where the user wants the ability to configure his own comfy zone. The main commercial applications for a Daikin VRV system are:
- Hotels
- Offices
- Restaurants
- Schools & Colleges
- Hospitals

- Pharmaceutical Manufacturing
- Shops and Stores
- Banquets and Halls
Benefits of installing a VRF AC system
The VRV system installation is becoming useful in developed metro markets like Delhi NCR in India. VRV systems tend to increasingly exist in larger urban areas where building space is more precious. The system offers numerous benefits for commercial buildings, such as air conditioning in a large urban area where space is scarce. A VRV air conditioning system is usually built into commercial buildings using a central heating system that pumps air around them.
The VRV System uses less space and provides greater control over the different zones that are needed to be cooled or heated as per the requirements of the occupants.
The VRV System also provides the Interior Designer with options of concealing the indoor in ceiling or wall with Cassette and Air-Ducted Units that are not apparently visible as compared to Hi-Wall Split AC Units that are to be located on the wall.
Mid Static Pressure Ceiling
The FXMRQ model are especially known for the High Flow of air and unusual small & compact design. Using dynamic and mid-pressures it is possible to create flexible ducts all models are not up to 300 meters thick. The weight of the FXMRQ40A was reduced from 44kg to 28kg. An antibacterial treatment that uses silver ions was applied to the pipe thereby preventing the growth of slime, mold, and bacteria causing blockages and odor. The drain pans can be removed for simple clean-up. The Drain Pump is equipped with standard accessories with a 700 mm lift. Drain Pan can also be detached from the drain pan for cleaning reasons. FXMRQ40A has 700mm lifting.
Leaky HVAC systems can be costly. VRV HVAC systems can stop your home from leaking and make your HVAC system last longer. They’re capable of providing air conditioning in hotter temperatures than traditional units, without using insulation for blocking the heat. The systems are also low-maintenance and require minimal maintenance. Whether you want to cool your home or warm it, VRV HVAC systems are an efficient option.
This is the undoubtedly the category champion for Daikin VRV that keeps Daikin amongst the very top order of VRV – VRF AC System, with the robust design and high performance that provide cooling comfort at an extremely fast rate.
VRV IV heat pump (RXYQ)
Daikin’s VRV systems have advanced technology to provide maximum comfort, energy efficiency, and reliability. Available in heat pumps and heat recovery configuration VRV IV provides a solution for multifamily residential to medium commercial applications needing heating or cooling. It will also provide an integrated solution of refrigerant vapor flows (VMFs) for refrigeration in North India. In the North India the Climate changes from 4 degree to 45 degree and it is very important for a VRV System to be able to maintain the comfortable temperate indoor with minimum consumption of electricity, RXYQ series of DAIKIN VRV has shown over the time ability to provide comfort cooling with resistance to harsh climate and pollution in Delhi NCR.
VRV LIFE
Daikin VRV LIFE products use inverter-driven VRV technologies to solve age-old commercial HVAC challenges. Precision engineered in accordance with flexible zoning low sound and space conservation allowing the mix and mating of ducted and ducted-free interior units in combination with a air purifier for specially areas like Delhi NCR where the AQI is in the range of 200-500 level. VRV Life is the ideal selection for a premium solution for a reliable HVAC System that is sustainable to provide around the year cooling for typically double the time that a normal Split AC system does. Precision manufacturing for flexibility and less noise.Â
Advantages and Disadvantages of a VRF and VRV
A VRF or VRV air conditioning system can be controlled by various different temperatures and cooling comforts. The installation cost initially would be lesser as compared to the usual air-conning system keeping the cooling effect constant. With the additional part and component focus of the efficiency, it’s possible for VRV & VRF to achieve that. Use the same optimum cooler. The cooling system is equipped with control functions where users have an opportunity to control their individual temperature and cooling condition. A unified force. This will ensure maximum energy effectiveness.
The Major Benefits of VRV System can be listed as below.
- Low Space for Outdoor Unit
- Quite comfort
- Heating and Cooling Option
- Inverter Based Compressor for Low Energy consumption
- Â Wide variety of option in Indoor Units
- Longer life span of VRV System
- Greater control of the Temperature and air flow
- Reliable HVAC Solution for a wide Varity of HVAC Needs
- NO leaking drain pipe, Units are installed with drain pumpsÂ
Issues to Consider When Choosing A VRF HVAC System
VRV HVAC systems are becoming more prevalent in the HVAC marketplace because of their benefits. A VRF HVAC system uses a large-volume refrigerant system, which means that the air inside the room doesn’t get cold. This keeps the air conditioner from consuming so much energy when the room temperature is below that of the surrounding air.
At the same time, the air conditioner produces a lot of heat. By Heating the air outside and taking the Cool air that’s created from it, the VRF system keeps the space cooler, which leads to a lower cost of living.
The VRF system is also environmentally friendly has a higher initial cost. The large-volume refrigerant system that the system uses reduces the amount of gas that’s burned by the air conditioner.
Why is VRF HVAC Technology the right choice for your air conditioning system?
One new HVAC technology that is rapidly becoming popular is VRV technology. VRV means Variable Refrigerated Vomume Flow. ‘. A VRV piping is similar to a mini-split with ducts as it uses heat and coolant as cooling and heating media. Refrigerated fluid is cooled by circulating in an indoor condensation unit inside a building. The technique has been used for around 40 years in Japan areas of Europe and Asia and has many advantages compared to the traditional devices in the home. If you live in Delhi NCR and are looking at replacing or upgrading your air conditioning system you should call Clouds INC your Trusted and Reliable local HVAC Contractor.
